Planning of Upcoming ACMs

We want to request funding from Management for hiring a professional mediator. TBD.

Pluses & Deltas:

"We’ve been using our Google Group for a long time, and it's been great in many ways. At the same time, some needs have evolved, especially around how we manage communication across committees. We want to do a pluses and deltas to reflect on how the Google Group is working for us now."

“We want to hear as many different ideas as possible, so chime in if you have something that hasn’t been said yet.”

• Pluses: "What works well for you about using the Google Group/email for our communication?" 
  • "One thing that's working well for me about the Google Group is..."

• Deltas: “One thing that’s been challenging for me with the Google Group is..."

  • Let’s keep this focused on general experiences, not specific situations or people. For example:

    • “One thing that’s been challenging for me with the Google Group is… sometimes messages come across differently than they were meant.”

Kerry can help stack. Stephen will write pluses and deltas on the whiteboard.

Facilitator should reflect back to each person in the phrasing of the promptprompt.

If someone goes off topic: "Hold on a minute. We asked everyone to focus on general experiences, not specifics. Can you think about how to rephrase that in more general terms, and we'll come back to you in a minute?"

Reflect/Summarize:

• Which challenges could Discord help us with?
• Which of the good parts would Discord help us keep?
• How do people feel about trying Discord on a trial basis?

If the feedback is positive about trying Discord:

• We can setup an evening for people to get help with Discord
• Try it out
• We will plan on putting Discord forward as a proposal at the July 27th ACM
