ACM Planning Committee Minutes May 4, 2025

Feedback/reflection from prior ACM

Lynda: opening exercise was brilliant (draw a piece of paper out of a hat with two opposites and say which you prefer. light-hearted, everyone had a good time, but also helped us get to know one another).

Planning of Upcoming ACMs

Kerry - research on June 11 reservoir trip: tentative plan to check out Jordanelle Reservoir with Cheryl. Pavilion is $50/each for the day. A group site on the beach might be better. Should have more info by next ACM planning meeting on May 18.

Next ACM is May 25, which is Memorial Day. Tentatively reschedule ACM to June 1.

Some feedback from last maintenance-focused ACM. Went well overall. Not everyone loved it, but as a committee we feel that it's appropriate for everyone to be aware of maintenance and landscaping projects during the summer when we really need involvement. Plan for next ACM:

• Just maintenance & landscaping
• Start with gutter cleaning (30 mins)
• Landscaping: discuss different areas of the property. Field trip around the west side (30 mins)

Podcast: How "Me First" Culture Destroys Us (and what to do about it)

• In relationships,  a win-lose scenario is really a lose-lose
• Repair: "Is there anything we can do or say to make you feel better?"

What sort of community do we want? What are the outcomes that we want? What behavior is necessary to get us there?

Can we develop different vocabulary, different norms, different rituals, in this community that make this feel intentionally different vs mainstream culture and corporate business culture?

NO: trust, educating, new vs old

YES: curiosity, relationality, repair, ownership

In the past, annual retreats were helpful. Why did those stop?

Could we share the podcast with the whole community and then discuss it at ACM?

Future ACM topic suggestions:

1. Community care team - Neighbor care, not healthcare. Creating a more formal care team, boundaries
   1. What are our boundaries?
   2. Also be in the know about services/resources the city offers
   3. Can we get brochures, documents, etc. from other communities that have implemented care teams?
