Guest Room Policy

Guidelines for Guest Rooms

1.  Rooms are reserved on a first come-first served basis by posting on a paper calendar in the Common House (CH). Please use a pencil.

2.  Guests may be community members, family, friends, prospective home buyers, or other cohousers.

3.  Each guest must have a resident to host them. The name of the person hosting and unit number should be put on the paper calendar.

4.  If all guest rooms are booked, then residents can check with the one who has it booked in case the first guest has a change in plans. All residents involved will communicate with each other and the host who made the first reservation.  The host with the first reservation needs to notify others as soon as possible should their guest cancel.  If there are no guest rooms available for a specific time period, a resident host could try to see if any community member could accommodate the guest in their home.  The resident is still responsible for their guest.

5.  The resident host or her/his designee must be present for check in and checkout and for issues which might come up during a guest’s stay.  Please indicate on the calendar if another member is standing in as host for you.

6.  Responsibilities of the resident host include preparation of the room, check in and signing for room keys, orientation of guests, check out and return of keys, washing of sheets and towels within 24 hours of departure, and cleaning the bathroom and guest room.  Please allow at least one hour for cleaning.  Hosts and their Guests will leave the Guest Room cleaner than they found it.

7.  Check in and check out times are to be decided by hosts with back-to-back reservations.

8.  In accordance with the no pets in the CH agreement,  no pets are allowed in guest rooms.

9. In accordance with the no smoking agreement, no smoking is allowed in guest rooms.

10. Guests should be given the opportunity to donate $20/night per room per night used. Hosts can decide if the family/friends should pay or not. Keep in mind that the guest rooms are an extension of our own homes. Many of us will not have our guests pay for the use of the guest rooms.

11. Follow CDC guidelines for COVID.
