Turning On in spring/ Turning Off Irrigation in Fall

Six six? Kay aren't there six?) stop-and-waste valves:

Turn off procedure: Needs to be done before the first freeze, often late October,

Turn off the six stop and waste valves above.Leave the east stop-and-waste on the east berm turned on.  The lines from it are below the frost line.

Remove the anti-reflux (aka vacuum breaker valve/ backflow preventer) valve by the workshop and put it inside the workshop.  Make sure you know where to find it next spring.

Open one faucet west on the east berm, three faucets in the east garden, one faucet north of the north garden, to let air into the lines so they drain.

Turn dials to "off" on 2 sprinkler control boxes in the common house inner office and 1 control box in the garage.

Make sure all residents remove any hoses attached to the hose bibs on their units, to let the anti-freeze faucets drain for the winter.

Water can be temporarily turned back on in the either garden (stop-and-wastes and faucets) so long as the person doing it turns it all back off properly the same day.

Turn ON procedure
Best practice is to start testing in April so you can discover and fix leaks before the turn on date, but only safe to leave the stop and waste valves on once the danger of a hard frost has passed

To turn on farmette water:
Must put back the anti-reflux (aka vacuum breaker valve/ backflow preventer) from the work shop near the stop and waste valve near unit 25. Clean the attaching pipes of any debris.
Turn on the stop and waste valve by unit 25 (counterclockwise is on )
Next, turn on the stop and waste near the farmette  south of the hydrant (note: both the stop and waste valves by unit 25 and by the faucet must be on for this to work)

East side:
For the East Garden to have water, turn on the stop and waste valve on the east driveway by the grate the rosebush
Next, turn on the stop and waste by the faucet on the se side of the east garden
For the east orchard: in addition to the stop and waste by the grate, also turn on the stop and waste valve  on east driveway near a tree/e of the carport

Common House lawn:
-Turn on the stop and waste valve on the common house lawn

Now, go and test for leaks by turning on each zone in the two control boxes (one in the common house inner office, the second in the garage). See the wiki page "sprinkler control boxes" for details on which zones are where
