Community Wiki

Ben has set up a community wiki for community documents and information.  It is searchable.  How useful it turns out to be will depend on how many documents get uploaded, so the more it is used the more useful it will be.

To get to the wiki, go to the community landing page.  That can be reached through the link in the footer of community listserv emails.

Ben has set up everyone using the email on the community phone list.  Go to “log in” top right. Click forgot password.  It will ask for your email.  Enter your email. It will send an email link to your email. Click on ‘reset password’ in the email, which takes you to a reset password page.  Put in your email and put in your chosen email twice. Password eight characters.  The wiki sends the administrator an email saying your password has been reset.

Can set up multifactor authentication if you wish, but not required.

The folder structure uses the metaphor of shelves, books, chapters, and pages.  Opens at books, but can go up a level to shelves.

Can take minutes directly into the wiki.  Please also email them, copy and paste into email body, and include a link.  Email is a push communication (it comes to you), while the wiki is a pull communication (you have to go to it).  Thus email works better for new items, while the wiki works well to store things.

Ben has done templates for minutes and proposals.

To create a page, click “create a new page.” On the right sidebar, click the circle with an arrow (triangle), which will make the side menu come out.  Select templates (broken square with two bars inside).  A pre-formatted page with temporary filler text (“lorem ipsem”) comes up.  Replace text as needed.  When finished, click save page at top right.

When adding pages please create descriptive titles so people can find what they are looking for.   When creating or editing a page, the title that appears in the table of contents is the text in the box above the formatting bar.

As well as creating pages from scratch, you can copy paste text to add older files or files from other sources.

Can upload pictures or videos, such as showing each step of a maintenance process.  Size limitation – Ben will increase limit. 62 MB was too big (a bit more than a minute).  Alternative, put video on youtube and put in link.

Pages of attachments won’t necessarily show up in searches. To make them visible to the search engine, list their titles on the chapter’s attachment page (or similar).

Under Committee Support Committee there is a page of committee contacts, or can search ‘committee contacts’.  If your committee has a google group for its email, give that email.

Under ACM “book”, there is a chapter Consensed Proposals.

Committee Announcements

ACM Planning. The Agenda Setters, Facilitators, and Procedures committees have recombined into the ACM Planning Committee.  At each meeting there are two facilitators.  To encourage more people to try facilitating, a rookie can handle just the standardized portions of the meeting, check-in, committee reports, and announcements.

If you have a topic you’d like discussed, use the link to a google form that was emailed.  ACM Planning will discuss whether to put a link on the landing page (from the link in email footers, the page where the pay’r’work reporting link is).

Chicken Club.  The club has posted a sign describing what items can be fed to the chickens.

Common House.  If you have things to give away, bring them on ACM day, rather than clutter up the dining room with stuff.  If you want to donate something to the c.h. please talk to the committee first.  The committee will be cleaning out the pantry.

Maintenance.  Had a work party Saturday putting linseed oil on the trestle wood at the common house. Thomas and Jerome will have another oiling work party probably this Saturday. If you know of wasp nests (little ones), let Mike know and he will spray them down.

Management.  Working on updating the keybox.  A house and storage key are required from each unit; mailbox and car keys optional.

Solar Panels.  Finally got a price from Rocky Mountain Power regarding the transformer replacement.  It will be about $9,000.  Ben is waiting for new quotes from Gardner.  Rocky Mountain Power has grants for electric vehicle chargers which we could apply for.

North Field Garden Club. Started harvesting garlic, basil, and other vegetables. Meet most Sundays.  8-10 a.m.

Parents.  Planning to repaint the climbing wall in the kids room.

Safety and Security.  Jerome, Mary, Lila, and Joe.  Will paint the curb by the fire hydrant on the north end of the west parking lot to encourage people NOT to put recycling bins in front. There is a stencil in the garage to do a grid on the pavement to indicate no parking (stored rolled up in a big cardboard box.  If anyone has ideas or concerns about safety, please email the committee.

East Garden.  If new residents want garden beds for next year, let us know (send a message to listserv).

Trashy Ladies/Waste Management ad hoc.  Getting a quote from Momentum which will be presented to Management on possibly changing waste and recycling service.

Welcoming.  Third orientation this Saturday August 13, 10:00 to 12:30.

Announcements

Dinner at Chanon Thai.  Lila and Victor are planning a dining trip to Chanon Thai in September.

Danielle Hurley (former resident) will stay in common house August 16 to 21 with daughters Ellie and Tegan, hosted by Vicky & Mike.

Vicky has books authored by people who have presented webinars on cohousing.  She has set them on the ottoman; read and return if interested.  She will announce the date for the next webinar; join her in the common house to watch and discuss.

Fiesta behind Victor’s for his birthday tomorrow Thursday August 11, 8:00.  In c.h. in case of rain.

Laraine has something stuck in the rain gutter above her deck and would appreciate it if someone will help her get it out.

Jorge & Robin are having their unit treated for mold Thursday and Friday.

This is Maxine’s last ACM after thirteen years. She is moving out Saturday and Kerry is moving in Monday.

Action Items:
