Community Calendar

Use the calendar for wasatchcommons@gmail.  We've had problems with events being scattered between calendars. Nobody currently in the community is the owner for calendarwasatchcommons@gmail.com (possibly belongs to Becca), so we are abandoning it.. Stop using it; in fact, delete it from your google calendar.

Ben sent an email with a link that will add the calendar to your google calendar.

Everybody experiment with adding wasatchcommons to your calendar (mostly on phones), with those more tech-savvy helping others.  If added to your google calendar on one device, it will be on other devices as well.

Continue to put things on the paper calendar.

Fund Raising

The Welcoming and Fund Raising Committees have mostly the same membership and have kind of merged.

Two events coming up, the open house and the community 25th anniversary.  It's up to us how big they are.  We haven't used them in the past for fund raising, so we will want to talk about whether that's something we want.

May 4, National Cohousing Open House.  This is not the conference; there isn't an online national event.  Each community participating is doing its own thing.

For now our notice on the national cohousing open house page says 10:00 to 12:00. We don't expect to have any units for sale this year, but outreach to acquaint people with the concept is good.

Ideas

  • Lynda will keep cafe open longer so people can start there.
  • Snacks & Tours AM
  • Rummage Sale - Outside Garage Sale
  • Work party in the afternoon, "Nicer, e.g., not cleaning drains but planting trees.
  • Raffle, silent auction; Prize - a couple of nights in the common house guest room. Meals? (B&B)
  • Theme, "May the 4th be with you"?
  • Workday / Fundraising
  • Hand out Save The Date cards for the 25th Anniversary.  Michael is willing to do a card.

25th anniversary

Fund Raising/Welcoming is currently thinking about an event on Saturday September 28 or Sunday 29. We had events for the 10th and 20th anniversaries.  Decide what we want to do and pick a date.

  • Celebration for us, for former residents, for interested people
  • Dedicated to Honoring the Past & Looking forward to the future of WaCoHo.

Good Deeds for Donation

When a resident needs something done that they might normally hire out, if someone in the community can do it, they could donate a payment to the community.  Up to whoever is involved, no pressure, this isn't meant to supercede doing things for each other with no expectations as neighbors for favors or trades, or to people doing jobs tor money which they keep.

Good Deeds for Donations!

Liza thinks it's great.

Ben's feedback - doesn't want every event to be about fundraising which is good :)  people should feel welcome regardless of financial situation <3

Swamp coolers - upcoming

Pay or Play - good deeds for donation count.

Instead of going external, hire someone internal.

Hire person, person provides an invoice, gets paid & Venmos to the community Venmo.

It's okay to not donate funds & it's okay to reject payment.
