Minutes, All-Community Meeting, Sunday September 22, 2024
Topics: 25th Anniversary.
Present: Kerry, Robin, Lynda, Emily, Hannah, Ben, Stephen, Cheryl, Kay (notes), Michael.
3:00-4:00 p.m.
25th anniversary
Request: please check your cupboards for community dishes, silverware, glasses, etc. Have backup paperplates for if/when we run short. Remove any personal food from fridge & freezer. One last planning meeting Monday night.
Need volunteers:
- clean up on Friday,
- set up on Friday
- wash front & side porch of c.h.
- wasp patrol
- tour guides.
- People in kitchen heating food for 6:00.
- photographers
Need stuff
- canopies.
- folding tables
- crockpots.
Planning for about 75 attendees.
4:00-6:00 creative space. Craft fair, appetizers 4:00-5:00, drinks.
Raffle/door prizes. Grand prize night at the common house, gift basket of produce, watercolors by Robin, cork pumpkin center pieces done by kids, 3D printed earrings by Ben, hot pads & oven mitts & T-shirts by Kerry. .
Activities for kids: tin punch blocks, coloring books, face painting (Linda Reed).
Slide show in sitting room. Michael has been scanning photos, about 250 pictures. Will have sheets to request identification of people, dates, events.
Laura & Kerry are in charge of pennants introducing residents. (Turn them in a.s.a.p. if you haven't.)
6:00 Dinner. Gerome will play piano as the call to dinner. Featuring food from the community. Pesto, chili (white, vegan, & elk), corn bread, fruit skewers, plum lemonade, nonalcoholic toasts (Martinelli's sparkling), dessert (choc zucchini cake, rice crispey treats, choc. eclairs).
After-Party: BYOB, music & dancing outside.
Bus station for dishes, but otherwise clean up the next day 10 a.m. Sunday.
Announcements
Company tomorrow coming to check out 3 c.h. & 1 workshop furnaces & give us a quote for heat pump for east hall rooms, where furnace is not working well. Will have to run a 240V line if we do. If we go to heat pumps for that & one in , it gives us cooling upstairs.
Volunteers to spread mulch on wild area path, along west drive (pile by shed) by sign.
Cheryl has gotten two decks removed of those that need new membrane. Inspection of Cheryl's & Lynda's decks, Roof Doctor says at least five years' life. He recommends to clean under decks every two years.
